To heal those morning in Zion, He gave a garment of praise to the spirit of heaviness and joy for mourning
During tragedy and hardships the Israelites would cover themselves with ashes to show their sorrow and repentance. God promised that one day, they wouldn’t have to hurt and feel sorrow and shame.
What will God make of me? Will I be left here to die? Has God forsaken me? Why does God let me endure things that hurt me?
He says the glory of the Lord will rise upon you. And although darkness may cover the earth, you will shine through.
I remember one time in a church service a preacher looked at me and said “God has things in store for you, but all the spirits of hell are going to try to come against you” and when I felt I was going through it, I cried out to God and asked “why?” And I never got my answer until now. He says “beauty for ashes”. Because where you felt you were forsaken and hated, God was making an eternal excellency. God began creating a new city from desolation.
“God, I’ve been praying and I’ve been sowing!”
God says, “wait. I’m sending the rain.”
“And they shall call thee, The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy City of Israel” (Isaiah 60:14)
18. “Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.”
19. “The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory”
20. “Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.”
God came to a land of darkness and his light rose upon it. Where Gentiles came to the light, and kings to the light rising. Where you can say “the spirit of the Lord is upon me. My land is no longer dry and empty, but ready for harvest, revival and renewing”.
Sometimes you have to step back and let God work. You have to surrender. Listen for His calling. Be ready for God to make you a great nation. Above all strive for Holiness and when you feel your world has crumbled, where you feel the ground is shaking and you have nothing left but broken dreams and a hurting heart remember God will turn it around for you. He makes beauty for ashes. For you are apart of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
